[Major Release] S.T.O.P KIT Visual Quality Research Report Presented at International ARVO Conference

Introduction: Myopia has become a problem faced by many teenagers and children, and myopia management is increasingly attracting the attention of parents and professionals. During the 2023 Annual Meeting of the Association for Research in Vision and Ophthalmology (ARVO), a jointly researched report on the use of S.T.O.P KIT technology brought new breakthroughs to the field of myopia prevention and control for teenagers, which will help protect children's vision more effectively.


Introduction to S.T.O.P KIT technology: S.T.O.P KIT technology is an innovative product that uses spatial-temporal-optical phase technology. It has various optical elements that have a focal distribution of azimuthal changes and are asymmetrically arranged in the surrounding treatment area. When pasted on a single eyeglass lens and replaced regularly, S.T.O.P KIT provides an optical signal that varies spatially and temporally (i.e., dynamically) to the eyes, which is expected to effectively reduce the progression of myopia and maintain therapeutic effect for a longer time.

 

Research purpose and methods: The purpose of this study is to compare the subjective visual performance and vision-based indicators of optical films with spatial-temporal optical phase technology (S.T.O.P KIT) to control film patches (CFP) and single-vision eyeglasses without film patches (i.e. no-film control). The study adopted a randomized, double-blind, cross-over clinical trial design.


Results and evaluation: The results showed no significant differences between the CFP and S.T.O.P KIT groups compared to the no-film control group, indicating that the optical film did not have a significant impact on vision.

 

Comparison with other myopia control strategies: The unique feature of the S.T.O.P KIT technology lies in its dynamic optical signal characteristics, which are expected to better reduce the rate of myopia progression compared to traditional myopia control strategies. At the same time, the optical film of this technology does not have adverse effects on visual acuity, thereby providing a more effective myopia control method while ensuring the safety of children's vision.


Overcoming adaptation issues: The S.T.O.P KIT technology can overcome the problem of decreased efficacy of traditional myopia control strategies after prolonged use. By providing dynamic optical signals to the eyes, the adaptive response is minimized, thus maintaining the efficacy for longer periods.


Application prospects: As an innovative myopia control product, the S.T.O.P KIT technology has a wide range of application prospects. With more studies confirming its efficacy and safety, this technology is expected to become one of the mainstream choices for myopia control in children and adolescents, helping to alleviate the increasingly serious myopia problem in our country.
